Marcel Messing vertelt het verhaal van Djaiana, bij wie steeds meer levensvragen opkomen.

Zo leert Djaiana het padloze Pad kennen, de leerloze Leer, maar ook de betekenis van gebed en denken, goed en kwaad, geboorte en dood, om tenslotte de kracht van de liefde te ervaren. Aan het einde van de inwijding wacht Djaiana de ultieme test. Hij verlaat het woud in het besef dat het pad dat naar de waarheid leidt het zelfloze Zelf is.
